Bay County Box Turtle Project- Taking a closer look at one of Bay County’s most amiable reptiles Bay County is home to some of the largest box turtles in North America, yet little is known about the Gulf Coast subspecies. Bay County Box Turtle Project was launched in 2019 as a long-term project aimed at assessing the status of box turtles and working to conserve the species and its habitats, particularly in residential neighborhoods of Bay County. Learn how you can get involved as a citizen scientist, and how to promote box turtle conservation in your neck of the woods
